The story behind the crew

From a farm in India to job sites across Abbotsford

Dawinder came to Canada from India in 2015 with a farming background. He already knew what steady, physical work meant, and that shaped how he approached his new life here: show up, learn the trade properly, and build something stable for his family and the people he hires.

He did not jump straight into running a company. First he worked the insulation trade hands-on across Abbotsford job sites, learning different systems, getting to know contractors and suppliers, and seeing where insulation jobs go wrong. Once he felt he could stand behind the work, he started Khaira Insulation Ltd.

Dawinder likes project-based work because every job has a clear start, a finish, and a customer who can see the result. The goal was never just to run a business. It was to do good work in the Fraser Valley and create steady jobs for local youth along the way.

How we think about the work

The small details decide everything

Most people think insulation is just adding more material. Dawinder does not see it that way. Whether the insulation actually performs comes down to installation quality, air sealing, ventilation, moisture control, and the vapour barrier details. Cheap work can look finished from the outside while it hides gaps, compressed batts, patchy attic coverage, or blocked ventilation. The home keeps losing heat and can develop moisture problems later, long after the cheque has cleared.

One early job taught that lesson the hard way. Dawinder quoted an older house over the phone, going off the owner's description. Once the job started, it needed far more material than expected, and because he had already given his word, he finished it and lost money on it. He does not give firm phone quotes anymore. He visits the site, checks the attic or walls, takes measurements, then prices the job. It is slower, but the number you get reflects the actual work.

What Dawinder tells the crew

A few things we repeat on every job

The insulation field is competitive, and plenty of contractors win quotes by cutting material quality. That is not how this company stays employed and referred. Quality work is.

01

“Insulation only works when the small details are done right.”

02

“Do it once, do it properly. That is how we keep getting work.”

03

“We work with budgets, but not by cutting the quality of the insulation system.”

What we can honestly stand behind

The real numbers

WorkSafeBC / WCB covered
Business licensed
Working since 2015
10-person crew
2-year workmanship warranty

More than 500 insulation projects have been completed since 2015, for homeowners, builders, and general contractors across Abbotsford, Surrey, Mission, Vancouver, Delta, Langley, Aldergrove, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack, Kelowna, and Kamloops. We are deliberate about what we claim: WorkSafeBC covered and business licensed, but not insured or certified yet. We would rather tell you exactly where we stand than dress it up.

Proof on the ground

A whole-house job in Chilliwack, done on time

That owner was on a deadline because the homes had to be finished for sale. The crew took the job and worked overnight, which is not normal practice, to hit the date. The work was done on time, and the owner went on to recommend Dawinder for the next job. It is the pattern customers mention most: a hardworking, respectful crew that stays committed after taking the contract.

“You took the job when I could not find a contractor that matched my budget, and finished it on time before the deadline. With minimum supervision your crew did a fantastic job.”
